The Inversoft Profanity Database is the world's leading profanity and unwanted content database. Customers can use the database with the Inversoft Profanity Filter or a custom in-house filter.
The Inversoft Profanity Database provides a comprehensive collection of potentially unwanted words and phrases. Since customers download the actual database rather than accessing it remotely, they have the flexibility of adding, modifying or removing words from the database. In addition, the database is formatted using XML, which means that it can be easily read, modified and transformed into other formats.
Each record in the database contains the word and a number of additional attributes, such as a severity rating and category (i.e. 'swear' or 'racial slur'). These attributes dictate which records are used during the filtering process, allowing customers to decide which words they want to filter and which they want to allow. This flexibility supports a wide range of applications, from a youth accessible website with strict filtering policies to an adult oriented forum where language restrictions are minimal.
